<\/a>Last year my good friend and fellow photog, Abu, and I traveled to Bushkill Falls to photograph the \u2018Niagara of Pennsylvania\u2019.\u00a0 I always find it interesting when a place takes the name of another to represent itself.\u00a0 When I traveled to Bruges in Belgium, they called it the \u2018Venice of the North\u2019, a name actually given to several cities in Europe.\u00a0 Such a moniker only entices one to visit the city by which those places are named. \u00a0So, I made it my business to visit Venice, Italy later that year.\u00a0 A year after visiting PA’s version of Niagara Falls, I went to Niagara Falls in Canada.<\/p>\nI visited an attraction called, “Journey Behind the Falls”. \u00a0Underground tunnels lead visitors to the edge of the falls. \u00a0As you walk through the tunnel, the sound of rushing water get louder. \u00a0As you approach the tunnel opening, the sound becomes a thunderous roar. \u00a0It is surreal to stand only feet away from such power and force of the falls.<\/p>\n<\/a>The first weekend in May was a good time to visit.\u00a0 Throngs of summertime visitors haven\u2019t arrived.\u00a0 Temperature high\u2019s in the 50\u2019s fail to melt all the snow.\u00a0\u00a0 Favorite attractions such as \u201cMaid of the Mist\u201d boat ride that takes passengers to the bottom of the falls are not in operation due to the snow and ice still prevalent.<\/p>\n<\/a>Another tunnel leads viewers to the edge of the falls. \u00a0Located near the bottom, viewers get an up close view of the water with the midst spraying the onlookers. \u00a0The snow and ice on the ground would take some time to melt.<\/p>\n<\/a>As beautiful as the falls are during the day, photographing them at night is more rewarding. \u00a0A number of spotlights illuminate the falls. \u00a0With the midst at night and a slow shutter speed, I captured a dreamy photo of this landmark.<\/p>\n
